India, ranked second in the world in the International Cricket Council’s Test rankings, rolled to a 280-run victory over No. 9 Bangladesh last week in the first Test of their series in Chennai. The teams square off in the second Test of the series on early Friday morning in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone at Green Park in Kanpur. The nearly 80-year-old facility had been deemed dangerous by local authorities but was cleared for use after repairs were made to the Balcony C stand. The Bangladeshi tour is India’s first Test since taking four of five tests from England in January and February. Captain Rohit Sharma leads India into the second test after Ravichandran Ashwin scored 113 runs in the first inning and Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant combined for 228 to make quick work of the second inning. Ashwin also posted a 2.23 economy rate in his 13 overs of bowling.

This will be the final Test for Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan. The Bangladeshis swept both ends of a test in Pakistan last month. Mehidy Hasan Miraz totaled 49 runs across the two innings last week and Al Hasan added 45.
India has three top-10 batters in the world rankings in Yashasvi Jaiswal (No. 5), Pant (No. 6) and Sharma (No. 10). Litton Das is Bangladesh’s top batter at No. 20. India’s Ashwin ranks No. 1 and teammate Jasprit Bumrah No. 2 among bowlers, with Taijul Islam of Bangladesh at No. 19. Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin are 1-2 among allrounders with Al Hasan rated No. 3.
