Big 12 action continues on Friday with game two of a series between Texas Tech and Arizona in Tucson.

A top 20 matchup will take place on Friday night as the No. 14 Texas Tech Raiders pay a visit to the No. 14 Arizona Wildcats for the second game in as many days at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Raiders dropped the series opener to the Wildcats on Thursday night in a tough 2-1 defeat to drop to 34-10 overall and 14-2 in conference play. The team still leads the Big 12 conference, but only has a one game lead over the Wildcats in second place now. Alexa Langeliers was responsible for the Raiders’ only run with an RBI single in the first inning, but that’s where the team’s scoring stopped. Nijaree Canady pitched a complete game and was credited with the loss after giving up a home run in the first and striking out seven batters.

The Wildcats are now on a six-game win streak after Thursday night’s victory and the team is now 37-7 overall and 14-5 in Big 12 play which has them sitting in second place in the standings. Devyn Netz powered the offense for the Wildcats, smashing a home run to left field in the bottom of the first to bring home herself and Kaiah Altmeyer. The Raiders held the Wildcats to just five hits, but it was enough to get the job done and knock off the conference leaders. Netz also earned the win for Arizona in the circle, throwing for five innings and striking out five batters while only giving up three hits.

The Raiders and Wildcats have met a total of four times in their history and the Wildcats hold a 4-0 lead in the all-time series. Tune in Friday night to see if the Raiders are able to get one back and force a rubber match on Saturday.
