The top-ranked Texas Longhorns will host their in-state rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday night to kick off their SEC series. The Aggies bring an overall record of 24-16 and a conference record of 8-10 into Friday night’s opener which has the team sitting in 12th place in the SEC standings. The team is on a two-game win streak after beating Sam Houston 13-3 in seven innings on Tuesday. Blake Binderup powered the Aggies’ offense, going 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBI earned from a solo home run to left center in the second and a three-run shot to left field in the fourth. Aiden Sims picked up his first win of the season on the mound after throwing for two innings and striking out four batters.

The team has won six games in a row with the most recent being a 14-11 win over Texas State on Tuesday night. Cody Howard earned his first win of the year with 1.1 innings of relief work in which he struck out two batters and Thomas Burns came in to earn his third save of the season with three strikeouts in the ninth inning. Jalin Flores and Casey Borba led the offense with five RBI apiece. Both men hit home runs in the win and Flores closed out the scoring with a grand slam in the ninth to keep the team’s win streak intact.

Texas and Texas A&M have a storied history and have met a total of 162 times. The Longhorns hold a 102-60 lead in the all-time series. The last meeting took place last season and went 11 innings before the Aggies secured a 4-2 win.
