Carli Lloyd and the U.S. Women take on Ally Prisock and Bumpy Pitch FC in this year’s The Soccer Tournament final on Monday.

In the finals of The Soccer Tournament on Monday night, the U.S. Women will be taking on Bumpy Pitch FC as the teams play for a $1 million prize and bragging rights for the next year. The format of The Soccer Tournament is a 7v7 world championship, which included eight teams on the women’s side. On the women’s side of the tournament there were eight teams contending for the title. The U.S. Women’s team has several former USWNT members including Ali Krieger, Casey Loyd, Heather O’Reilly, Amber Brooks, Cat Whitehall, Jo Lohman and Jill Loyden, making the team a deadly force in this tournament despite the age of most of the players on the team. While Lloyd served as a coach last year, she returned to the field this year after giving birth to her daughter. USWNT standout Michelle Akers stepped back into a coach roll this season and it has paid off so far.

The U.S. Women’s team enters the finals after defeating Reunion City Dallas 2-0. In the win, Bella Devery and Tessa Dellarose each scored a goal in the match to help their team advance. Devery scored in the 13th minute with an assist from Cat Whitehill and Dellarose scored in the 56th minute with an assist from goalkeeper Lindsey Harris. Harrris earned a clean sheet by saving all nine shots on goal. 

Bumpy Pitch FC comes into the finals after defeating Ultrain FC 2-1. Taylor Suarez opened the scoring in the match in the 15th minute with an assist from Kayla Mills, but Ultrain FC tied the match in the 26th minute. Mills was able to regain the lead during Target Score time with an assist from Ryder Ajeto. In the target score time a player from each team is removed every three minutes until the target score is reached.

While this tournament is still very young, it is quickly gaining popularity, as the men’s bracket included 32 teams this year. The U.S. Women will look to defend last year’s title with a win on Monday night. Tune in to see some of the women’s most notable players return to the pitch in North Carolina.
