The Manzanares Park Tennis Center is set to continue hosting the 2024 Madrid Open on Friday. On the men’s side, two-time Grand Slam Champion Carlos Alcaraz has won the Madrid Open the last two years in a row. The Spanish phenom beat Alexander Zverev in straight sets in 2022 (6-2, 6-1), followed by a three-set victory over fellow German Jan-Lennard Struff in 2023 (6-4, 3-6, 6-3). Alcaraz is currently the No. 3 player in the world in the ATP rankings, below just Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. The 20-year-old star will be looking to even give himself a chance for a three-peat, as he is recovering from a wrist injury that left him out of the Barcelona Open and the Monte Carlo Masters in recent weeks.

On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka is the reigning Madrid Open champion, with the two-time Grand Slam champion beating the No. 1-ranked Iga Swiatek in three sets in 2023 (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
Sabalenka’s most-recent title was at the 2024 Australian Open, where she was able to take her second Aussie Grand Slam in a row. The 25-year-old Belorussian beat Qinwen Zheng in straight sets in the final (6-3, 6-2).
