The final day of the Big Ten Track and Field Championships will take place on Sunday as athletes hope to qualify for NCAA’s.
Track and Field Championships are underway across most college conferences and on Sunday afternoon, the best runners in the Big Ten Conference will take to the track at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon to compete in the final day of competition. After the first day, Minnesota led on both the men’s and women’s side. The men finished day one with 28 points and led Big Ten newcomer and host Oregon by just one point. The women had 20 points and held a six-point lead over Penn State heading into day two. By the end of day two, the Ducks had taken the lead on the men’s side, finishing the day with 65 points, while Illinois had overtaken the lead on the women’s side with 41 points. Both of the leaders only hold a three-point lead over the second place teams.

The men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon finished up on Saturday afternoon after two grueling days of competition. Illinois’ Rafael Raap won the decathlon with 7,572 points. He used strong discus and javelin marks to move into the top spot, as Michigan State’s Dylan Terryberry did the same to finish on the podium in seventh place with a new personal best of 7,140 points. Oregon’s Annika Williams earned a person best 5,914 points to win the heptathlon.
Day three should be highly competitive, as some of the most exciting events take to the track. The men’s and women’s 4x100m relays will take place, as well as both hurdle events. The men’s and women’s 200m and 400m races will also bring several strong runners to the track who hope to earn a Big Ten title before the meet ends with the 4×400 this evening.
