The No. 1-seeded UC San Diego will take on the No. 2-seeded UC Irvine in the championship game in the Big West Conference Tournament in men’s college basketball at the Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nevada, on Saturday evening. The No. 1-seeded Tritons are 29-4 overall heading into this championship game and finished the regular season in conference play with an 18-2 record. Looking for an NCAA Tournament berth, they opened the tournament in the semifinal round because of their high seeding in the conference.

They took down Santa Barbara in the semifinals with a 69-51 win. Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones led UCSD with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 10-of-14 from the free throw line. He also had a team-high eight rebounds and nine assists in the win, propelling his team to the championship. Four of the five starters for UCSD finished in double figures as well.
The No. 2-seeded Anteaters are 27-5 overall this season with an 18-3 record against teams in the conference during their regular season. They also started their tournament run in the semifinals because of their top-two seed. They matched up with Cal Poly and dominated them, winning by almost 20 points, 96-78.
Bent Leuchten led the team with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line with 10 rebounds. Devin Tillis finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, and a team-high six assists. Six total players and all five starters finished in double figures. Justin Hohn had 15 points with four assists, and Myles Che and Jurian Dixon had 10 points each.
