Barcelona travels to the San Siro on Tuesday hoping to reach its first Champions League final in a decade, but Inter Milan won’t be a willing host after holding out for a 3-3 draw in Catalonia last week. The Nerazzurri will now boast home advantage for the second leg of their semi-final showdown after almost pulling off a historic win on Spanish soil six days ago. Simone Inzaghi’s side have much more recent experience on Europe’s biggest stage after losing to Manchester City in the 2023 Champions League decider and are now looking to make up for that near miss two years on.

Fans can only hope the second leg in Milan lives up to the first after both teams finished level in a six-goal thriller, where Barca twice came from behind to draw on home soil.

Denzel Dumfries scored twice for Inter after Marcus Thuram broke the deadlock inside a minute, while Lamine Yamal was in world-beater form for Barca:

In fact, the last two meetings between these two European superpowers have now finished 3-3, and soccer supporters worldwide would go ballistic if we were to see a hat-trick of double hat-tricks.

Inter is praying on the fitness of top scorer Lautaro Martinez after he came off at half-time in the first leg, with Mehdi Taremi struggling to inspire as his replacement in the reverse fixture.

The club has announced its World Cup winner – who has 21 goals in all competitions this term – will undergo a late fitness test despite initial fears he would definitely sit Tuesday out.

Barca is under similar pressure with star striker Robert Lewandowski, who will also undergo a late test to see if he’s ready to return after missing the first leg.

Ferran Torres scored in his absence last week and will continue to deputize if the Pole is deemed unfit, while first-choice defenders Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde look certain to miss out.
