An all-English battle between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will decide the Europa League title on Wednesday.

English rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will face-off for the fourth time this season on Wednesday when the pair will decide who is named Europa League champion for 2025. The Premier League pair have performed dreadfully in domestic terms this season and are each relying on the Europa League crown to land them a spot in next term’s Champions League. But Ruben Amorim will have to buck a serious trend considering the Spurs have managed to win each of the three encounters between these teams to date in this campaign and is looking to complete a clean sweep at San Mames.

Ruben Amorim’s men return to the Basque Country after already knocking out Athletic Bilbao – the residents of San Mames – in the semifinals of this tournament.

And the Manchester monolith booked a morale-boosting 3-0 win at this venue just a few weeks ago en route to banking a spot in the final that has a chance to save its season.

United most recently came undone at Stamford Bridge after Marc Cucurella found all the space he needed to seal a 1-0 win in Chelsea’s favor when the English giants collided in the Premier League.

The Red Devils now find themselves faced with another London force in Tottenham, who is gunning to lift its first piece of silverware since laying hands on the League Cup in 2009.

The wait hasn’t been nearly as long for United, who won the Europa League crown in 2017 and finished as runner-up to Villarreal as recently as 2021.

However, Amorim hasn’t been as fortunate with the club to date and would really bolster support within the club’s backroom if he managed to end his maiden campaign with European gold in tow.

The same goes for Spurs chief Ange Postecoglou, whose job may well rest on whether or not his side get the better of the all-English duel on Wednesday evening.

Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Radu Dragusin are each certain to miss out for the Spurs, while Lucas Bergvall and Pape Sarr are hoping to be fit in midfield.

Amorim will benefit from a raft of players recently returning to fitness, though there are still question marks over Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

Regional restrictions may apply.
