Thibaut Courtois sent out a warning ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday. In a press conference, the Belgian goalkeeper declared that: “when Real plays a final, they win it.” It’s important to remember that Courtois was on the wrong end of a Real victory when his Atlético Madrid side lost 4-1 in extra time to Los Blancos in the 2014 final. But did he have to say it? After all, Liverpool knows about facing Real in a UCL final, too, losing 3-1 to the Spanish giants in 2018.

That 2018 final against Liverpool was the third UCL title in a row for Real Madrid, the winningest club in the tournament’s history with 13 trophies.
