The Philadelphia Phoenix visit the D.C. Breeze on Saturday night in their first game of the season in the Ultimate Frisbee Association. The Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) is a professional ultimate league in North America. The league comprises 24 teams divided between the South, Central, East, and West divisions. Each UFA season has 12 regular season games which run from April to July. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the top three teams from every division advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament that culminates in a final four style showcase known as the UFA Championship Weekend, which is contested in late August over two days.

The Phoenix have been in the league since 2013 and have made the playoffs just twice. The last time they made the postseason was in 2022 when they lost in the first round.

Last season they went 5-7 and missed the playoffs for the second straight season and are hoping they can improve this year and make it back.

The Breeze have also been in the league since 2013, but they have been more successful than the Phoenix.

The Breeze are coming off a 10-2 season, but they came up short of a championship when they lost to Minnesota Wind Chill 16-13 in the second round of the playoffs.

The Breeze won both meetings with the Phoenix last season. They won 22-10 in the first and then 24-23 in double overtime in the second meeting. The Breeze have won 11 straight games against the Phoenix dating back to 2018.
