By the time Week 8 of the 2025 UFL season ends on Sunday afternoon, the XFL Conference playoff picture could be set. For this week at least, everything hinges on the final game of the week which has the DC Defenders (5-2) taking on the Arlington Renegades (3-4). A DC win would not only clinch a playoff spot for the Defenders, but also put in the St. Louis Battlehawks after their narrow 29-28 win over the defending UFL champion Birmingham Stallions on Saturday afternoon.

A win would lock up the season series for the Defenders over the Renegades. In the first meeting of the year in Arlington back in Week 5, DC won a shootout 37-33. DC quarterback Jordan Ta’amu threw for 308 yards and a touchdown in that game, while rushing for another score.

Coming into this game Ta’amu is the UFL’s leading passer. In seven games he’s thrown for 1,750 yards – 300 more than the next closest player – and 14 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He’s also run for another 150 yards and two scores in what could very well end up being a league MVP season.

As he looks to build on that campaign he’ll have to crack this stout Arlington defense. The Renegades are allowing just 260 yards per game this season, which is the lowest in the UFL. In terms of scoring, they rank third allowing 16.7 points per game.
