In one of two UFL games as part of the Week 8 slate on Saturday, last year’s two conference winners will face off for the only time in this regular season. For this matchup the St. Louis Battlehawks (5-2) will host the Birmingham Stallions (5-2) at The Dome at America’s Center. Both of these teams took first place in their respective divisions last year, but did not meet in the playoffs as the Battlehawks lost in the first round, while the Stallions went on to win the UFL Championship.

Birmingham won last year’s meeting in Alabama 30-26, in a back-and-forth game that included seven lead changes. Despite the close score the Stallions dominated the pace of play, out-gaining the Battlehawks with 349 total yards of offense while holding St. Louis to 214 yards.

This year’s game holds significant meaning for both teams as well, as they try to repeat as conference champions. Both are in a tie at the top of their respective standings right now. Birmingham is knotted up with the Michigan Panthers, and could clinch a playoff spot with some help from the Michigan Panthers this week. Meanwhile, the Battlehawks find themselves in second-place heading into Saturday via tiebreakers, trying to keep pace with the DC Defenders.

Saturday’s kickoff is one of two scheduled 1:00 p.m. ET kickoffs for the UFL on Saturday, along with the Michigan Panthers against the Houston Roughnecks. Coverage of this game can be found on FOX.
