Although both teams are already onto the postseason and will play each other next week, the top seed in the conference – and thus homefield advantage in that game – is still to be decided, and will be determined on Friday night.

Coming into this game, St. Louis is one game ahead of DC, and with a win will guarantee things shift to their home field next week for the playoffs. However, if DC takes this game, the Defenders will have won both head-to-head meetings, which is the first tiebreaker. With the teams having identical records, next week’s game would be right back at Audi Field if the Defenders take care of business themselves on Friday night.

That first meeting of the regular season in St. Louis was back in Week 3. The Defenders outgained the Battlehawks 346 yards to 173 yards in a 27-15 win.

That was one of the first big games for DC quarterback Jordan Ta’amu, who threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns. In the rematch this week, Ta’amu will look to put a bow on what may very well be a league MVP campaign.
