First place in the UFL’s XFL Conference is on the line on Sunday afternoon, when the Arlington Renegades host the DC Defenders to kick off a double header to close out Week 5.

Sunday afternoon features a double-header in UFL play, with two games to close out Week 5 of the 2025 season. The first of the two games might be the biggest game of the week for the league. The Arlington Renegades (3-1) will be hosting the DC Defenders (3-1) at Choctaw Stadium. Heading into the game the two teams are tied for first place in the XFL Conference, so the winner will take sole possession of the lead and have a game in hand on the other heading into the second half of the season.

DC had been alone in the lead in the conference, until last week. After opening the season with three wins in a row the Defenders lost at home 24-18 to the San Antonio Brahmas. Despite that loss DC still boast the most stingy defense in the league, allowing a league-low 206.8 yards per game.

Arlington suffered its first loss two weeks ago. Last week the Renegades bounced back in a big way, beating the St. Louis Battlehawks 30-15.

Head-to-head, there’s a good history between these two teams. Last year they split their season series, with the road team winning each game by a single point. Both were high scoring, with the defenders winning 29-28 in Week 3 and then the Renegades winning 32-31 in Week 10. The year before that the two teams met in the XFL Championship (pre-merger), which the Renegades won 35-26.
