The second quarterfinal of the 2025 Big East Tournament features the Villanova Wildcats challenging the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The quarterfinals of the women’s college basketball Big East Tournament features a marathon of games. In the second quarterfinal of the day, fourth-seeded Marquette (20-9) takes on fifth-seeded Villanova (17-13) for the third time this season. The first two games were split between the teams with each winning at home. This third matchup of the season will serve as a tiebreaker on neutral ground with the winner having the opportunity to be crowned conference champions. The winner of this game will take on either St. John’s or four-time defending Big East Tournament Champions Connecticut in the semifinals. The Golden Eagles and Wildcats swept the Red Storm (3-0), but went winless against the Huskies.

In the most recent game between the teams the Wildcats ran away with a 65-53 win after a strong second period. Jasmine Bascoe led three players in double-figures with 17 points while Bronagh Power-Cassidy splashed home four deep balls finishing with 14 points. The Golden Eagles won the first game in a defensive grind led by Halle Vice with a double-double. She finished the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the fulcrum of the offense.

This season the Golden Eagles have been nearly unbeatable when Vice scores more than 15 points in a game. They are 7-1 in those games. The only loss came against these Wildcats where Vice is averaging 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game on 15-24 shooting this season.
