With both teams coming off huge victories in conference play as the regular season winds down, No. 14 Georgetown hosts No. 19 Villanova at Cooper Field on Friday night in college lacrosse.

The 14th-ranked Hoyas will look to end the regular season on a high note as winners of three out of their last four games. Georgetown is 8-4 overall with a 3-1 conference record and a 4-3 record at home this season. Villanova, on the other hand, has won five straight games to improve to 7-5 overall with a 4-0 conference record and a 2-2 mark on the road. Georgetown has won 11-straight games over Villanova to hold a 23-20 advantage in the all-time series, including an 11-10 victory over its Big East rival last season.

Most recently, Georgetown took care of business in a dominant 21-8 victory over St. John’s in Queens last week. Jack Ransom led the Hoyas with a seven-point performance off six goals and an assist, while Aidan Carrolll had six points with five goals and an assist. In all, eight other Hoyas scored as well in the blowout win. 

As for Villanova, the Wildcats extended their winning streak to five games with a 14-13 victory over Marquette in a thriller last week. Villanova scored three goals in 41 seconds to erase a Marquette lead in the fourth quarter to earn the win. Matt Licata led the way with a six-point performance on five goals and an assist.
