Tuscaloosa Regional college softball play continues on Sunday as the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at John and Ann Rhoads Softball Stadium. The Hokies are playing for all the marbles on Sunday, as they already have one loss in regional play after dropping a 4-3 decision to Alabama in their second regional game. The team bounced back to beat Belmont 11-1 on Saturday in six innings. Jordan Lynch powered the offense, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, while Trinity Martin also finished with three RBIs, hitting a three-run shot to right field in the sixth. Sophie Kleiman took the win in the circle after pitching five innings and striking out two batters.

The Crimson Tide are undefeated in regional play so far, having beaten Jackson State 8-0 in a run-rule victory to open play and then beating the Hokies on Saturday in a narrow 4-3 victory. Jocelyn Briski pitched a complete game with five strikeouts to earn her 17th win of the season. Kali Heivilin led the offense with a two-run homer to center field in the third inning and Abby Duchscherer finished with one RBI as well as Audrey Vandagriff.

A win for the Crimson Tide in Sunday’s game would give them the regional title, but a win for Virginia Tech would force a rubber match to be played immediately after the first.
