The Virginia Tech Hokies go for a sixth straight win against the NC State Wolfpack in college wrestling on Friday.

The regular season finale for both seventh-ranked NC State (11-1) and 10th ranked Virginia Tech (8-2) on Friday is one final test before tournament season in college wrestling. Heading into this regular season finale the Hokies have won five straight competitions while the Wolfpack have won four straight. Both teams are contenders for the ACC Championship this season and have their eyes on making a run in the NCAA Tournament. Last season the teams faced off in the regular season finale in North Carolina where the Wolfpack won a tough 20-12 competition. That catapulted the Wolfpack to winning the NCAA Championship and an 11th place finish in the NCAA Tournament.

This season the Wolfpack look to repeat that pattern heading into the NCAA Tournament. Junior Isaac Trumble (15-3) leads the Wolfpack as the highest ranked individual wrestler on the roster this season. He is fourth in 285 pounds, directly behind a trio of undefeated legends of college wrestling.

Trumble will be challenged by the Hokies freshman Jim Mullen (17-3), who is ranked sixth in the country. That matchup will be the highlight of this competition and the only showcasing two wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of their weight class.

The Wolfpack also feature freshman Vincent Robinson (18-1) at 125 pounds as a top 10 ranked wrestler. For the Hokies, junior Caleb Henson (15-0) tops 149 pounds as the team’s highest ranked and only other wrestler in the top 10 this season.
