The first franchise in the league was awarded to a group that would bring a team to Grand Rapids, Michigan, later to become the Rise. Then, in Feb. 2023, it was announced that singer-songwriter Jason Derulo would team up to own a team that would be based out of Omaha, Nebraska, later known as the Supernovas.

Atlanta, Georgia and Columbus, Ohio, then became the next two markets to be awarded franchises. Finally, the first 2025 franchise was awarded to a group led by Armand Sadoughi in July 2023, that would bring a team to Dallas, Texas.
