Over the years the United States has dominated this tournament with three wins and an additional fourth place finish. The last time the United States made the championship match was in 2021 with a three-year gap since winning the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League.
In 2022 the United States lost to Serbia in the first match of the final round. Serbia capitalized on that win to place third in the tournament. Then in 2023 the United States lost in the semifinals to the eventual champions (Turkey) before losing in the third place match.
Last year the United States also lost to the eventual champions (Italy) in the first round. Serbia did not qualify for the final round, going 3-9 overall with just nine total points. This is another chapter in the rivalry between the countries that are both vying for the final round in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League.
