The UC Irvine Anteaters (21-8) already took out two of the four national seeds in the NCAA men’s volleyball tournament and goes for a third on Monday night when they face the No. 2-seeded Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (29-5) in an all-Big West Conference national championship matchup at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. UC Irvine entered the tournament unseeded and ranked No. 8 in the final regular-season poll before stunning top seed UCLA in the regional final to reach the Final Four.

UC Irvine upset No. 4 seed Ball State in its national semifinal match on Saturday in four sets, 25-19, 23-25, 27-25 and 25-19. Andrej Jokanovic led the Anteaters to the win with 18 kills and three blocks while Trevor Clark put up 14 kills and six blocks and Andreas Brinck chipped in with 13 kills to go with three blocks. William D’Arcy and Shane Aitken each made 10 digs and Cameron Kosty popped up 53 assists.

Hawaii avenged a loss to Long Beach State in the Big West tournament final on Saturday night, winning in four sets, 25-15, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-22. Kristian Titriyski finished the match with 14 kills and a pair of aces while Louis Sakanoko contributed 12 kills. Tread Rosenthal went for 36 assists, five blocks and two aces, with Justin Todd putting down 10 blocks and Quintin Greenidge making eight digs.

The Rainbow Warriors swept two matches from the Anteaters in Irvine on April 3-4, taking 3-2 and 3-0 victories, and have beaten UC Irvine in their last five matchups. Hawaii looks for its first national championship since going back to back in 2021 and 2022 while UC Irvine’s last title came in 2013, also the last time it reached the final.
