The Tar Heels finished their season with a 20-12 overall record and just 13-7 against teams in the ACC. They were tied with their opponent but lost the tiebreaker, meaning that they had to open the tournament in the second round instead of the quarterfinals. They matched up with No. 12-seeded Notre Dame yesterday.

The Heels came away with a win in that game by 20 points, leading from the get-go. In the 76-56 win, forward Jae’Lyn Withers had a massive day, shooting 7-for-10 from behind the arc for 21 points in a team-high and nine rebounds. Elliot Cadeau finished with 10 assists, many to Ven-Allen Lubin, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

The No. 4-seeded Demon Deacons finished their season with a 21-10 overall record and a 13-7 record against teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They ended tied with North Carolina (the No. 5 seed) and SMU (the No. 6 seed), but with the tiebreakers, they secured the highest of the three seeds. They will open the tournament in the quarterfinal round as a result.

They closed out the regular season this month with a win over Notre Dame, followed by a loss to Duke, and closed out in the finalé with a win over Georgia Tech. Hunter Sallis, the All-ACC first-team selection, leads Wake Forest, averaging 18.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Cameron Hildreth is the only other player averaging double figures on the team.
