No. 6-seeded Washington State will take on No. 3-seeded San Francisco in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The Washington State Cougars ended the regular season with a 90-83 win over Pepperdine 90-83, finishing 19-13 overall. They were just under the .500 mark with an 8-10 record against teams in the West Coast Conference this season, tied with Loyola Marymount and just one game over Portland. They opened up the tournament in the third round yesterday.

Their third round game was against Loyola Marymount and they won that game by almost 20 points. Four of the five starters ended in double figures, with Ethan Price and Nate Calmese both scoring 22 points to lead the team. Price also had five rebounds and four assists. LeJuan Watts had the team’s only double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The San Francisco Dons ended their season with less than 10 losses at 23-8. They beat Gonzaga by 20 points in the regular season finalé last week, but it wasn’t enough to catch them in the conference. They ended with a 13-5 record in the conference, just one game behind Gonzaga, who was 14-4 and the No. 2 team in the conference.

Malik Thomas led the team in scoring throughout the regular season, with 19.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. He was followed by Marcus Williams, who is averaging 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The winner of this game will advance to the semifinals.
