Washington looks to improve on a dominant 10-1 home record when it hosts Minnesota for this Big Ten showdown in women’s college basketball on Sunday.

This should be a very evenly matched game, at least on paper, when Minnesota travels to face conference foe Washington in women’s college basketball on Sunday night. The Huskies are 13-4, but have slowed down a bit since conference play started. Washington is just 3-3 against Big Ten opponents, losing two of its last three matchups in conference. This is all compared to Minnesota, who has a 12-5 overall record and is also 3-3 in Big Ten play. The Gophers have won two of their last three games, but they are trying to bounce back from a big home loss against No. 3 UCLA. First off, though, the home team is coming off a huge road win, beating Indiana 82-63 on Wednesday. The Hoosiers still haven’t won a Big Ten game with a 0-7 record. Washington was led by Elle Ladine, who finished the game with 19 points. The Huskies were putting on a shooting clinic, hitting 64.3 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from three. The latter is the best of the season, and the former is the team’s best since the 2020-21 season. The Huskies started off the season great with an eight-game winning streak, so these last few games kind of feel like an anomaly for Washington.

Minnesota didn’t have the same fortune in its last game, getting routed, 76-58, by UCLA. The Bruins stayed perfect in Big Ten play and improved to 16-1 on the season. UCLA is at the top of the conference standings with Iowa. The win was the Bruins’ 10th in a row, with Kiki Rice and Lauren Betts being too much for the Gophers. Rice scored a game-high 25 points, and she only missed one shot. Betts put up her third triple-double. Amaya Battle still had a good game, leading the Gophers with 16 points.

Not all is lost for Minnesota, as it won its two previous games, including a nail-biter, beating No. 21 USC 63-62 last Sunday, which is the Gophers’ first win over a ranked opponent since 2019. This game will be more manageable than the UCLA matchup, but Minnesota will still have its hands full on the road tonight.
