Alyssa Thomas and the Connecticut Sun can secure the third seed and eliminate the Chicago Sky from the playoffs on Thursday.
The Connecticut Sun (27-12) control their fate heading into the final day of the regular season on Thursday against the Chicago Sky (13-26). With a win, Connecticut is locked into the third seed in the playoffs and will face-off with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the first round. On the other hand, with a loss, Connecticut could fall to the fourth seed with a Las Vegas Aces win. This season Alyssa Thomas and Connecticut are 3-0 against Chicago with all three games decided by eight points or less. Chicago will be short-handed to close out the regular season with the playoffs on the line with rookie star Angel Reese out, Kamilla Cardoso doubtful and Chennedy Carter questionable.

If those three miss the regular season finale Chicago will lean on Lindsay Allen, Dana Evans, Rachel Banham, Isabelle Harrison and Michaela Onyenwere to keep the season alive and potentially earn the eighth seed in the playoffs. Chicago needs the Atlanta Dream to lose to win the tiebreaker for the eight seed this season.
The last time these teams played was just under a month ago with Connecticut winning 82-80 at home. In the win Marina Mabrey led the way off the bench with 24 points. DeWanna Bonner (15 points), Brionna Jones (12 points) and Alyssa Thomas (12 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds) also finished in double figures.
Chicago was led by Carter (19 points), Cardoso (18 points) and Reese (13 points and 20 rebounds) in the loss. The Sky made it a competitive game in the end at full strength, which will be more difficult with those three all out or potentially not in the lineup today.
