New York has been on fire to start the 2025 WNBA season, winning eight straight games to break the previous franchise record of seven straight wins to begin a season. Breanna Stewart has New York rolling with the top scoring offense and defense in the league, routing teams by an average of 19 points per game.

In the early season win New York had eight different players hit at least one three-pointer and six hit multiple three-pointers. Natasha Cloud and Kennedy Burke each made four in the 99-74 win on the road.

Cloud led the team with 18 points and eight assists on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. This season Cloud started off playing as well as any player in the WNBA, averaging 18.7 points and 7.7 assists per game on 55.6 percent shooting in the first three games. Since then she has settled into a smaller role around Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones.

This season has been a struggle so far for the Sky. They lost the first four games of the season before winning back-to-back games. Chicago is coming off a tough 27-point loss to the short-handed Indiana Fever where no players scored in double-figures.
