This season is a fresh start for Los Angeles with star and former MVP Nneka Ogwumike moving on after 12 seasons, eight All-Star appearances, one MVP and one championship with the team. Now the team begins to build around the second and fourth picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, Cameron Brink in the paint and Rickea Jackson on the perimeter. This new chapter begins on Wednesday against another young team on the rise in the Atlanta Dream who are coming off their first playoff appearance in five years last season.

Atlanta has slowly built out this team with a mix of veterans and young stars. Rhyne Howard is one of those young stars on the perimeter with veteran Cheyenne Parker controlling the paint leading the team from eight wins to 14 wins to 19 wins in the last three seasons.

Parker is coming off a career-best season where she put it all together, averaging 15.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per game as one of the most dynamic two-way players in the WNBA. With Atlanta adding veteran Tina Charles to the fold this Atlanta team will be formidable all season on the offensive end.

Los Angeles won both of its preseason games with Brink totaling 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks on 7-of-11 shooting as a starter, while Jackson came off the bench for 12 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 5-for-15 from the field. All eyes will be on the rookies to kick-off the 2024 season.
