The Atlanta Dream can close out their first-round series with the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night when the teams meet in Game 2 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Atlanta opened the series with a 12-point victory at home in Game 1 on Sunday, putting up a sterling defensive effort against the short-handed Fever to offset its own poor shooting in the series opener. Indiana won’t have Caitlin Clark (right groin), who is out for the season, and it is also missing forward Damiris Dantas for the second straight game as she remains in the concussion protocol.

The Dream held off a strong early surge from the Fever and pulled away for an 80-68 win in Atlanta on Sunday. Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray scored 20 points each while Naz Hillmon put up 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Atlanta is the No. 3 seed in the playoffs after closing the regular season on a six-game winning streak.

Kelsey Mitchell scored a playoff career-high 27 points for Indiana in the loss while late-season addition Odyssey Sims added 10. Aliyah Boston struggled to find shooting space, hitting just 3-of-9 and scoring only eight points, but did add 12 rebounds and five assists. The Fever shot only 34.9% and hit only 2-of-15 from behind the arc in the loss.

The winner of the series advances to take on the survivor between the Seattle Storm and the second-seeded Las Vegas Aces in the best-of-five semifinals.
