Caitlin Clark leads the Indiana Fever against the feisty Golden State Valkyrie for the first time this season on Thursday.

The Indiana Fever (6-5) have found their rhythm with Cailtin Clark back in the lineup. They have won back-to-back games to clinch the Eastern Conference slot in the Commissioner’s Cup. Since returning Clark has picked up right where she left off, averaging 26 points per game and bringing out as much emotion in the game as any player in the WNBA. Before playing in its first Commissioner’s Cup, Indiana takes on the Golden State Valkyries (5-6) for the first time in franchise history. One of the standouts for Golden State this season came from Indiana in the expansion draft in veteran Temi Fagbenle, who is having a career-best season.

Fagbenle broke out last season with Indiana, averaging career-highs across the board in 22 games. This season she has built off of that success, starting in 10 games for Golden State. She’s nearly doubling those career-highs, averaging 10.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Indiana counters with one of the best frontcourts in the WNBA around Clark this season. Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard are combining for 25 points and 14.4 rebounds per game this season.

They will need to play big against a Golden State team that is fourth in the WNBA in rebounding. Veterans Kayla Thornton, Fagbenle, rookie Janelle Salaun and Monique Billings have given Golden State an edge on the glass this season. In fact, Golden State is 4-3 in the seven games it has out-rebounded an opponent.
