Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty will take on Skylar Diggins and the Seattle Storm on Sunday in WNBA action.

The New York Liberty (10-2) will travel west on Sunday for a cross-conference matchup with the Seattle Storm (8-5). The reigning champs kick-off a 10-day road trip on Sunday in which they will play four games. New York is dealing with key absences as All‑Star center Jonquel Jones (ankle) is expected to miss 4–6 weeks and Leonie Fiebich remains overseas. That means Nyara Sabally and Isabelle Harrison will shoulder more of the front court load. Breanna Stewart, a former Storm MVP, returns to Seattle where she began her career. While her visits haven’t featured formal honors, Stewart says the homecoming still feels “validating” as a reigning champion. She’s averaging around 21 points, and alongside Sabrina Ionescu (20 points per game, including two 34‑point outings recently), New York’s duo remains a dominant force that will play a huge part in this game.

Seattle comes in surging, winning five of its last six games with standout contributions from Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins‑Smith. Diggins‑Smith, in particular, is red‑hot from deep, making two or more three pointers in her last five outings. The Storm’s defense ranks among the league’s better units and they play with confidence at home.

New York is favored in the game, but without Jones, Seattle should certainly not be viewed as underdogs. Fans can expect a high‑tempo, tightly contested game with both sides capable of winning. Key to the outcome will be the Liberty’s bench response and the Storm’s ability to contain New York with its quick transitions both offensively and defensively.
