Alyssa Thomas and the Mercury will take on Angel Reese and the Sky on Saturday afternoon in WNBA action.

The Phoenix Mercury (8-4) travels to the Midwest on Saturday to play the Chicago Sky (3-8) at Wintrust Arena. Phoenix will wrap up its longest road trip of the season and will look to carry momentum from its four-game win streak into Saturday’s game as the team chases the Minnesota Lynx, who lead the Western Conference standings. Following a gritty 76‑70 win over Las Vegas, marked by the returns of Kahleah Copper, Alyssa Thomas, and Satou Sabally, the Mercury is putting an emphasis on team chemistry as the women have now meshed to create an almost unmatched offensive strength.

While Kahleah Copper has returned to the court, she is still listed as day-to-day with a knee issue that has been plaguing her for weeks. Megan McConnell will miss the game with a knee injury and is out for 3-4 weeks.

Chicago is still searching for consistency in Tyler Marsh’s first season at the helm, but he has been unimpressive thus far, along with the players he is putting on the court. Moriah Jefferson remains out with a leg injury and Courtney Vandersloot will be out for the rest of the season after tearing her ACL in early June. Having those two out proves how important a deep bench is as Chicago has only won three games this season and is just out of last place in the Eastern Conference standings.

On Saturday, Chicago will rely heavily on Ariel Atkins, Kia Nurse, Hailey Van Lith and Kamilla Cardoso. While the Marsh would certainly like Reese to produce more, she is currently only averaging 11 points per game. While she may not be scoring, she is pulling down 11.6 rebounds per game to lead the team on the boards.

Phoenix’s depth, momentum, and healthier roster should carry the team to a win, but Chicago’s grit, led by former LSU duo Reese and Van Lith, could make this a one‑possession game.
