Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury will welcome Kiki Iriafen and the Washington Mystics on Sunday for a WNBA matchup.

On Sunday evening, PHX Arena will play host to the Phoenix Mercury and the visiting Washington Mystics as the teams meet in a cross-conference matchup. The Mercury come into Sunday’s game with a record of 2-1 so far, which has them sitting in third place in the Western Conference standings. The team’s most recent game was played against the Seattle Storm and resulted in a 77-70 defeat. Alyssa Thomas powered the offense with 16 points and also led on the boards with 11 rebounds to earn a double-double in the loss. Satou Sabally and Monique Akoa Makani rounded out the double digit scorers with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Sabally narrowly missed out on a double-double with nine rebounds to help hold onto possession, but the team still came up short.

The Mystics got off to a strong start, winning its first two games, however, the team has lost two in a row to drop to 2-2, which has them sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. On Friday night, the team traveled to play the Las Vegas Aces, losing in a close 75-72 defeat. Kiki Iriafen had a strong showing for Washington, finishing the game with 17 points and a team-high 13 rebounds to earn a double-double, while Sonia Citron scored a team-leading 19 points. Jade Melbourne and Sug Sutton also scored in double digits with 14 and 10 points, respectively, but the Mystics left Jewell Loyd open in the corner and she sunk a game-winning three in the final seconds to win it for the Aces.

The Mystics and Mercury last met in September and the Mystics walked away with a 90-77 victory. Tune in Sunday to see if Washington can break its two-game losing streak with a win over the Mercury.
