Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings take on Skylar Diggins and the Seattle Storm.
The season-opener for the Dallas Wings (0-1) and debut for rookie Paige Bueckers went well for two quarters. Bueckers finished the game with 10 points and seven rebounds in her WNBA debut. Dallas looks to get in the win column against another team that struggled in their season opener. The Seattle Storm (0-1) started the season with a lopsided loss where the offense never got off the starting block. Both teams entered this season with playoff aspirations. Seattle has a veteran group led by former MVP Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins and Ezi Magbegor but that was not enough in the season-opener.

Diggins and Ogwumike combined for 33 points on 12-for-24 shooting from the field in the 81-59 loss to the Phoenix Mercury. They were efficient, but not enough. Magbegor finished with just two points on 1-for-9 shooting from the field in one of the worst games of her career.
Outside of Ogwumike and Diggins, the rest of Seattle combined for just 26 points on 9-39 shooting from the field. Last season Seattle averaged 83.2 points per game and finished 25-15, making the playoffs.
For Dallas, last season was an injury-plagued nightmare that led to the opportunity to draft Bueckers with the number one overall pick. All-Star Arike Ogunbowale started the season with 16 points on 4-for-12 shooting. The rest of the Dallas starting five is all new around Ogunbowale with Bueckers, 2024 Most Improved Player DiJonai Carrington, former first-round pick NaLyssa Smith and Myisha Hines-Allen.
