Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury host the fifth seeded Seattle Storm in the regular season finale on Thursday.
The Seattle Storm (24-15) close out the regular season against the Phoenix Mercury (19-20), their chief rival. This season Seattle has won two of the first three games including a Commissioner’s Cup game and the most recent game two weeks ago. This is also potentially the final time personal rivals Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith will face-off after a tumultuous three-year stint in Phoenix before Diggins-Smith left for Seattle. Coming off a year for maternity leave, Diggins-Smith is having one of the best runs of her career, teaming up with former MVP Nneka Ogwumike, All-Stars Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor, and recent addition Gabby Williams to make a run at Seattle’s fifth championship this season.
