The Dallas Wings (1-0) take on the Chicago Sky (0-1) for the second time in four days to kick-off the 2024 WNBA season. Dallas picked up the win after trailing 43-40 at the half. Arike Ogunbowale led the way with 27 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals to get Dallas off to a strong start this season. Dallas has improved by four wins every season since a dreadful 2020 campaign where the team won just eight games. Despite not having All-Star Satou Sabally to start the season and an injury to Natasha Howard in the first game, Dallas once again looks like a playoff team again.

Dallas also got double-figure scoring from starters Teira McCowan (18 points and 13 rebounds), Howard (15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists), as well as second-year forward Maddy Siegrist (14 points and five rebounds) off the bench.

In the loss Chicago saw all five starters finish in double-figures scoring. Marina Mabrey (19 points and nine rebounds) led the way with Diamond DeShields (14 points), Elizabeth Williams (12 points and eight rebounds), rookie Angel Reese (12 points and eight rebounds) and Dana Evans (10 points and six rebounds). The team is without rookie Kamilla Cardoso to start the season, who will give Chicago one of the best young frontcourts in Cardoso and Reese.

That group was able to keep Chicago in the game during the first half, but the experience of Dallas allowed it to go on a 47-36 run to close out the 87-79 win to start the season. The teams run it back for a second straight game to start the season.
