The playoff-bound Indiana Fever open a six-game homestand on Wednesday when they host the last place Los Angeles Sparks.
The Indiana Fever (17-16) are one of the hottest teams in the WNBA with the longest active win streak at four games and eight victories in their last 10 games. On Tuesday night, the idle Fever clinched their first playoff berth since 2016 thanks to losses by the Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky. On Wednesday night, Indiana opens a six-game homestand at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against the Los Angeles Sparks (7-25), who are still mathematically alive for the final available postseason ticket as they trail the Sky and Dream by 3.5 games.

The Fever came from behind in the fourth period on Sunday for a 100-93 road win over the Dallas Wings. Kelsey Mitchell poured in a season-high 36 points while rookie Caitlyn Clark added 28 points and 12 assists. Mitchell’s finger roll with 3:19 left gave Indiana the lead for good.
Los Angeles squandered a chance to make up ground on Sunday as Atlanta came to Crypto.com Arena and hammered the Sparks 80-62. Li Yueru scored 14 points off the bench and Rickea Jackson added 13 as Los Angeles shot just 37.1 percent, including a dismal 3-of-21 from three-point range. The Sparks had a chance to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season after stunning the first place New York Liberty on Aug. 28.
Indiana is third in the WNBA in offensive rating at 103.3 points per 100 possessions, while Clark tops the league with 8.4 assists per game and shares the lead on 98 three-pointers made with Arike Ogunbowale of the Wings. Mitchell paces the team with 19.0 points per game and Aliyah Boston gets 13.4 points and 9.0 rebounds a night.
Dearica Hamby’s 17.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game lead Los Angeles, while Odyssey Sims is averaging 5.4 assists in seven games since signing the first of three seven-day contracts on Aug. 17.
