With the two teams meeting after posting nearly identical records through ther first eight games, the Golden State Valkyries visit the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena on Monday night. 

Last weekend, the Sparks and Valkyries ended multi-game losing streaks with wins over the Dallas Wings and the Las Vegas Aces respectively. Starting with Golden State, the Valkyries sit at 3-5 with a 1-3 road record in their inaugural season in the WNBA. Los Angeles, on the other hand, snapped a three-game losing skid by improving to 3-6 overall with a 1-4 road record. This is the third of five meetings between the Sparks and Valkyries, with the two sides splitting the first two contests.

Most recently, the Valkyries stunned the Aces with a 95-68 rout in Commissioner’s Cup play in San Francisco on Saturday. Kayla Thornton finished the game with a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Veronica Burton poured in 14 points to go along with a career-high 12 assists and seven rebounds. Monqiue Billings added 14 points and 11 boards. 

As for Los Angeles, the Sparks are still without star Cameron Brink, but still took down the Wings by a final score of 93-79 on Friday night. Azura Stevens had 21 points, including a career-high five three-pointers, while Dearica Hamby poured in 20 points for the Sparks in the win.
