The Las Vegas Aces head into 2025 with high expectations, but can A’ja Wilson and company make it to the WNBA Finals?

As the 2025 WNBA season tips off, the Las Vegas Aces return with their sights on a WNBA championship after missing out on the opportunity for a three-peat last season. After dominating back-to-back championship runs, they failed to make the championship last season. However, they remain one of the league’s powerhouses, led by superstars A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young.

With a roster stacked with experience, chemistry, and talent, Las Vegas enters the season as a team to beat. Here’s a closer look at what to expect from the two-time past champs this season.

How to Watch Las Vegas Aces All Season Long

Las Vegas Aces 2024 Season Recap

The Las Vegas Aces failed to defend their 2022 and 2023 championship runs, despite boasting the 2024 Kia WNBA MVP in forward A’ja Wilson. The team finished as the No. 2 team in the Western Conference and the No. 4 team in the league with a 27-13 record overall. Their .675 winning percentage was just behind the Minnesota Lynx in the conference and New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun in the Eastern Conference.

They did finish a conference-best 9-1 in the last 10 games of the season to climb just ahead of the Seattle Storm, who finished the season on a 6-4 streak and fell to No. 5 in the standings.

They took on the Storm in the first round of the WNBA playoffs and won in two straight games. In fact, all first-round matchups were two-game sweeps. They would go on to lose in the semifinals to the eventual WNBA champion New York Liberty.

Las Vegas Aces 2025 Season Outlook/Stories to Watch

With the state of the Aces team, it is championship or bust for the Wilson-led team. The team hit a halt in their addition to Wilson as they lost their first-round pick for disciplinary reasons in the offseason WNBA Draft. However, when you have a player like Wilson, who is averaging a league-best 26.9 points per game last season, the championship is always on the mind.

Las Vegas currently holds the second-highest odds to win the WNBA championship this season, tied with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever and just behind a repeat of the New York Liberty.

However, the dynamics of the team will have shifted mightily as the team saw the departure of All-Star Kelsey Plum for the arrival of All-Star Jewell Lloyd among a myriad of other changes to the team’s starting five and depth roles. Chemistry will be a major story to watch as the season gets underway.
