Heading into 2025 with a retooled roster and front office, the Minnesota Lynx look to make another Finals run

The Minnesota Lynx finished the 2024 WNBA season with the second-best record in the league at 30-10 and swept the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the playoffs and held off the Connecticut Sun in a five-game semifinal before dropping a decisive Game 5 in the WNBA Finals to the New York Liberty. Last season marked Minnesota’s first winning campaign since 2021 and its first trip to the Finals since winning the title in 2017. Head coach Cheryl Reeve has taken on a bigger offseason load after general manager Clare Duwelius left for Unrivaled in November. The team added former Washington Mystics coach Eric Thibault as associate head coach and hired Hall of Famer Lindsay Whalen as an assistant coach to replace Katie Smith, who took a position at Ohio State.

The Lynx will be featured on 21 national broadcasts across ion, CBS, NBA TV, ABC and ESPN, while 30 regular-season games are set to be carried on the FanDuel Sports Network, with FanDuel Sports North serving the local market. Minnesota Lynx 2024 Season Recap

Behind All-Stars Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride, Minnesota made an 11-win improvement in 2024, finishing 30-10 and second in the WNBA. Collier earned Defensive Player of the Year honors as well as spot on the All-WNBA and All-Defensive first teams. Alanna Smith earned All-Defensive Second Team honors as well.

Collier scored 20.4 points per game to go with 9.7 rebounds a night, while McBride put up 15.0 points per contest and Courtney Williams posted averages of 11.1 points and 5.5 assists.

The Lynx opened the postseason with a two-game sweep of the Phoenix Mercury in the first round and a five-game triumph over the Connecticut Sun before dropping Game 5 of the WNBA Finals to the New York Liberty in Brooklyn.

Minnesota Lynx 2025 Season Outlook/Stories To Watch

Minnesota will be among the favorites to return to the WNBA Finals with Collier and McBride returning along with the rest of the starting five. Collier was an MVP candidate while McBride hit a career-best 2.7 3-pointers per game at a 40.7% clip.

Defense will be key to for the Lynx this season as they allowed just 75.6 points per game last season, second-best in the WNBA, to go with a 96.5 defensive rating that also rated second in the league.

The Lynx will also be defending the Commissioner’s Cup championship and added backcourt help when they traded their 2026 first-round pick to the Mystics for veteran Karlie Samuelson, a career 39.8% shooter from long range who averaged a career-high 8.4 points in 24.5 minutes a game last season.
