Seattle Storm face the challenge of replacing leading scorer Jewell Loyd as they enter the 2025 WNBA season

Last season, the Seattle Storm more than doubled their win total from 2023, returning to the playoffs after a 25-15 season that was good for fifth place in the WNBA but were quickly swept by the Las Vegas Aces in the first round. Leading scorer Jewell Loyd requested a trade and was eventually dealt to the Aces, leaving a hole the Storm will have to fill as coach Noelle Quinn returns for her fourth full season leading the club. But Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike bring back their combined 13 All-WNBA selections and will serve as the veteran leaders both on and off the court.

How to Watch the Seattle Storm All Season Long

The Storm will be featured on 19 national broadcasts across ion, NBA TV, ESPN, CBS, ABC and CBSSN, while 12 regular-season games are set to be carried on the local ABC affiliate, KOMO (Channel 4). KOMO will also carry Seattle’s lone preseason game as well.

Seattle Storm 2024 Season Recap

Ogwumike and Loyd were All-Star selections last season as the Storm put together a couple of very strong stretches last season, going 12-3 from May 22-July 1 before closing the regular season with five wins in their final six games.

Loyd put up 19.7 points per game while Ogwumike posted 16.7 points a night and Diggins-Smith averaged 15.1 points and 6.4 assists. Ezi Magbegor made All-Defensive first team after averaging 11.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, with Ogwumike making All-Defensive second team.

But the Storm were quickly dispatched by Las Vegas in the first round of the playoffs before heading into the offseason.

Seattle Storm 2025 Season Outlook/Stories To Watch

Replacing Loyd will be the biggest challenge for Seattle in 2025 and they will play the season without injured Jordan Horston and Nika Mühl. Horston, who started 14 games and provided 22.3 minutes of frontcourt action off the bench, tore an ACL while playing with Athletes Unlimited in February. Mühl sustained the same injury in October while playing for Turkish club Beşiktaş.

The Storm was all but certain to take Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles with the No. 2 pick in April’s draft before Miles opted to retain her college eligiblity. Instead, Seattle selected French center Dominique Malonga with the pick, which was acquired as part of the deal that sent Loyd to Las Vegas.

Seattle finished fifth in the league in scoring and fourth in opponent scoring but will need to find other scoring options. A plus will be having forward Gabby Williams available for the full season. She missed more than half of 2024 due to international commitments to the French national team at the Paris Olympics. She was designated as a core player in January.
