Syracuse, who won its last two games to reach the ACC tournament, opens the first round of the women’s basketball tournament with Boston College on Wednesday.

Syracuse (12-17) won its final two games of the regular season to secure a spot in the ACC women’s basketball tournament and opens the event on Wednesday when it takes on No. 12 seed Boston College (15-16) at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Orange finished 6-12 in ACC play to secure the No. 13 seed, with only the top 15 teams in the 18-team conference getting in. The Eagles were also 6-12 and claimed the 12th seed. Syracuse went to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season while BC’s last appearance came in 2006.

Syracuse closed the regular season with an 82-57 blowout of visiting Boston College on Sunday evening. Georgia Woolley finished with 19 points, six assists and four steals while Sophie Burrows tossed in 16 points. Woolley leads the team at 16.0 points per game, with Burrows scoring 11.9 points a night and Kyra Wood averaging 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds.

The Eagles fell into a 45-20 halftime hole and never recovered despite 20 points from Teya Sidberry. Savannah Samuel added 10 points and Andrea Daley grabbed 12 boards. T’yana Todd paces the team with 14.3 points per game, Dontavia Waggoner gets 13.0 points per outing, Sidberry averages 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds and Kaylah Ivey posts 5.4 points and 5.1 assists a contest.

The Orange are 40-27 in the all-time series after the teams traded blowout victories, with Boston College taking a 92-51 win at home on Jan. 19.
