Paige Bueckers leads the UConn Huskies into a fifth straight Big East Tournament Championship Game against the Creighton Bluejays.

For the fifth straight season since returning to the Big East, UConn (30-3) is the top-seed and playing for the championship. The Huskies have been undeniable in conference play this season led by Paige Bueckers and freshman Sarah Strong. They have won all 19 conference games between the regular season and the tournament. Only three of those 20 games were decided by less than 20 points and only one by 11 points or less. Two of those three “close” games came against second-seeded Creighton (26-5) who is playing in its second Big East Tournament championship game and first with Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly.

Over the last five seasons the duo of Jensen and Maly have played 273 combined games for the Bluejays as a duo winning 105 of them. They have had high hopes in the Big East Tournament each season, but have been upset before the championship game by a combined 12 points over the last three seasons.

This season the Huskies cruised to a 72-61 win the first time the teams played after building an 18 point lead heading into the final period. Bueckers (22 points) and Strong (26 points and 12 rebounds) led the charge in the win.

Then in the second game the Huskies clinched the regular season title in the Big East with a 72-53 win. Strong led the way again with 22 points and nine rebounds on 10-13 shooting. Those were two of the three closest, most competitive games for the Huskies in the Big East this season.
