Indiana gets another shot at top-seeded USC after knocking off No. 8 seed Oregon on Thursday afternoon

Indiana (19-11) on Thursday became the first lower seed to win a game at the 2025 Big Ten Conference tournament, earning a date with No. 2 USC (26-2), the tournaments top seed in a Friday quarterfinal game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The ninth-seeded Hoosiers finished 10-8 during the Big Ten season while the Trojans won the conference title in their first season in the league with a 17-1 mark. USC comes into the tournament on a seven-game winning streak and has played in the last two NCAA tournaments, reaching the Elite Eight last season. Indiana has strung together five straight NCAA bids, reaching the Sweet Sixteen a season ago.

The Hoosiers opened Thursday’s second-round game with No. 8 seed Oregon with an early 10-0 run and never trailed after the first quarter in their 78-62 victory. Yarden Garzon paced the attack with 18 points and Shay Ciezki tossed in 17 points. Garzon leads the club at 14.2 points per game, with Sydney Parrish averaging 12.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.

Big Ten Player of the Year JuJu Watkins scored 30 points and three blocked shots on Saturday afternoon as the Trojans locked up the conference title with an 80-67 win at then-No. 2 UCLA. Kiki Iriafen tallied 17 points in the victory. Watkins is the second-leading scorer in the nation at 24.4 points per game, Iriafen gets 18.1 points a night and Rayah Marshall averages 7.4 points and 8.6 boards.

USC picked up a 73-66 win at Indiana on Jan. 19, improving to 2-0 in the all-time series. The teams had not played since Dec. 5, 1985. Lindsay Gottlieb is 88-34 in her fourth season coaching the Trojans while Teri Moren has a 245-110 mark in her 11th season with the Hoosiers. The winner advances to Saturday’s semifinals against either Michigan or No. 15 Maryland.
