FDU takes a 6-game winning streak into Saturday’s NEC matchup with visiting Central Connecticut

FDU (13-3) is off to a 3-0 start in Northeast Conference action and has won six straight games overall. On Saturday, the Knights welcome Central Connecticut (4-13) to the Bogota Savings Bank Center in Hackensack, New Jersey, with the Blue Devils 3-1 in the NEC, winning their last three games after dropping their conference opener. FDU is 7-0 at home while Central Connecticut has won just once on the road in eight tries. The Knights have never played in a postseason tournament while the Blue Devils last reached the postseason with a bit in the 2015 WNIT.

FDU last played on Jan. 11, taking a 77-63 win at Mercyhurst. Abaigeal Babore led the attack with 22 points, Teneisia Brown tossed in 17 points and Kailee McDonald grabbed 10 rebounds. Brown averages 14.1 points and 8.8 rebounds while Ava Renninger gets 13.1 points per game.

Central Connecticut comes off its first road win of the season, coming back in the fourth quarter to drop Wagner 62-55 on Jan. 11. Belle Lanpher went off for 37 points, Amaya Williams added 14 and Meghan Kenefick snared 14 rebounds. Lanpher scores 21.0 points per game in seven games, with Dagny Slomack netting 9.0 poitns a night and Alonna Sellers averages 7.7 points and 6.6 boards.

The Knights have won the last seven meetings between the teams to claim a 23-19 advantage in the all-time series and swept both games last season, getting an 80-75 overtime win at home on Jan. 25 before claiming a 70-56 road win on March 7. Staphanie Gaitley is 26-20 in her second season at FDU while Way Veney is 13-34 in her second year leading the Blue Devils.
