Paige Bueckers leads the UConn Huskies on the road against Creighton in women’s college basketball.

This season sixth-ranked Connecticut (18-2) has continued its trend of dominating the Big East. Since re-joining the conference in 2020-2021 the Huskies have gone 79-3 in the regular season including winning 29 straight. All of that is on the line against a tough Creighton (16-3) team that is also undefeated in conference this season. This is a showdown between the two best teams in the Big East this season and could determine the regular season winner. The senior duo of Morgan Maly and Lauren Jensen will try to crack the Huskies defense and keep up with senior Paige Bueckers and freshman Sarah Strong who have formed a unique pairing this season.

Bueckers is chasing program history. She already owns the highest points per game average in school history at 19.7 points per game and is just 108 total points away from cracking the top 10 in total points. Another 309 points from the top five, which is within reach if the Huskies make a run in the NCAA Tournament.

Strong is having one of the best freshman seasons in Huskies history. She is averaging 17.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Her scoring is more than Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart and Svetlana Abrosimova, just behind Maya Moore and her current teammate Bueckers.

On the other side for the Bluejays this season Maly is averaging a career-best 17.9 points per game in her fifth season with the team. Jensen is right there with her teammate averaging 17.7 points per game, also a career-best.
