Atlantic 10 play continues on Wednesday night with a women’s basketball game between Dayton and Duquesne.

The Duquesne Dukes will host the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday night in an Atlantic 10 matchup at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh. The Dukes are currently in 10th place in the conference standings with an A-10 record of 2-3 and an overall record of 11-5. The team is on a two-game win streak and will look to build upon that with an upset over the Flyers on Wednesday. On Saturday, the team traveled to our nation’s capital to take on George Washington and won handily in a 97-55 victory. Mackenzie Blackford led the team in scoring with 20 points, while Kiandra Browne followed closely behind with 17 points. Faith Walker and Megan McConnell led the team on the boards, pulling down six rebounds each. The team played strong and hit a season-best 19 three-pointers in the win.

The Flyers have now won four games in a row to move to 4-1 in conference play and 10-6 overall, which puts them in second place in the A-10 standings. The team’s most recent game was played against La Salle on Saturday in which the Flyers earned a 79-61 win in front of a home crowd. Ivy Wolf and Arianna Smith combined for 43 points in the win, accounting for nearly half of the team’s points. Wolf finished the game with 22 points, while Smith finished closely behind with 21. Smith also led the team on the boards with 15 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win.

Duquesne and Dayton have met 27 times in their history and the Flyers hold a 17-10 lead in the series, however, the Dukes have won the last three meetings. The teams met once last year and Duquesne earned a 70-42 win on the road.
