DePaul and St. John’s will look to improve their record in Big East play when they meet on Tuesday night in New York.

The DePaul Blue Demons will travel to New York on Tuesday for a Big East matchup against the St. John’s Red Storm at Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm comes into Tuesday night’s game with an overall record of 10-4, but the team is still in search of its first conference win and is currently at the bottom of the standings with a Big East record of 0-3. Most recently, the team took on Providence and kept it close, even taking the game into overtime, but the Friars pulled away, winning 59-52. Lashae Dwyer led the Red Storm with 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double in the loss. Phoenix Gedeon added an additional 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

The Blue Demons are 7-9 overall on the season with a 2-1 Big East record, putting them in a tie for second place in the conference standings. On Thursday, the team traveled to Ohio to play Xavier and earned a 65-60 win on the road. DePaul used a big first quarter to take a 20-8 lead and were able to maintain that lead despite Xavier bringing the game within one on two occasions with only six minutes left in the game. Leading the Blue Demons was Taylor Johnson-Matthews who scored 24 points while Meg Newman added an additional 18 points to the scoreboard. Haley Walker led on the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds in the win.

The last meeting between the teams took place last season and St. John’s edged out DePaul in an 83-77 victory. Since 2010, DePaul has led the series between the two programs 22 to 6, but the Red Storm has won the last three meetings.
