ACC play continues on Sunday afternoon with a game between Duke and Virginia in women’s basketball action.

The Virginia Cavaliers will welcome the No. 14 Duke Blue Devils to John Paul Jones Arena on Sunday afternoon for an ACC contest. The Cavaliers are currently in 12th place in the conference standings with an ACC record of 2-2 and an overall record of 10-6. The team is on a two game win streak with the most recent being a 67-60 win over Clemson on Thursday night. Kymora Johnson led all scorers with 28 points and was joined by three Cavaliers in double figures. Latasha Lattimore added 12 points to the scoreboard and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to earn a double-double in the road win.

The Blue Devils bring a conference record of 3-1 and an overall record of 12-4 into Sunday’s game which puts them in sixth place in the ACC standings. The team will look to bounce back from a tough loss its last time out against UNC and get back on the winning side of things Sunday. Against the Tar Heels, it was an all-out battle that saw seven ties and four lead changes between the in-state rivals. Ashlon Jackson led the Blue Devils in scoring with 10 points. The strong defense on both sides held each team to just one double digit scorer at 10 points apiece. Jadyn Donovan led on the boards with 11 rebounds to help hold onto possession, but the Blue Devils came up short in the 53-46 overtime loss.

Sunday’s game between Duke and Virginia will be the 80th meeting between the programs with the Blue Devils holding a 44-35 advantage in the series. Duke has won the last four meetings between the teams with the most recent resulting in a 73-54 victory at home last season.
