Postseason play is underway around the country and on Saturday afternoon, eight-seeded Sacramento State and seventh-seeded Eastern Washington will go head-to-head in a first round matchup. The Hornets come into postseason play with an overall record of 14-17 and a conference record of 7-11. The team won its final two regular season games with the finale resulting in a 69-57 win over Portland State on Monday night at home. Lina Falk led all scorers with 19 points while Benthe Versteeg finished closely behind with 16 points. Versteeg also picked up a double-double by adding 12 assists to the state sheet. The team finished the game shooting 49 percent from the field and 43 percent from long range.

The Eagles finished regular season play with an overall record of 11-19 and a conference record of 7-11. The team will look to build upon momentum from its regular season finale which resulted in a narrow 80-77 win over Montana on Monday for Senior Night. Alexis Pettis paced three to double digit finishes with a game-high 21 points while Peyton Howard and Jaecy Eggers finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Kourtney Grossman led the Eagles’ rebounding efforts, pulling down 11 to go along with eight points, narrowly missing a double-double in the win.

Eastern Washington and Sacramento State last met in early February and the game went in the Eagles’ favor with a 68-53 victory to improve to 21-11 in the all-time series.
